Dr. Ify McKerlie MD, FRCPC, DABR, Principal Radiologist at Calgary Women's Imaging Centre (CWIC)
Ify McKerlie, MD, FRCPC, DABR is a breast radiologist and the Principal Radiologist at Calgary Women’s Imaging Centre (CWIC) in Calgary. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor (University of Alberta), a member of the Canadian Association of Radiologists Advocacy Committee, and serves on Alberta’s Breast Imaging Quality Assurance Committee. She also provides medicolegal expertise in breast imaging.
Dr. McKerlie earned her MD from the University of Saskatchewan and completed radiology residency training at McGill University. With over two decades in practice, her work centres on breast screening and diagnostic imaging, breast biopsy procedures, and breast MRI interpretation—supporting timely, accurate diagnosis and reassuring patients through uncertainty with clear communication.
She is also the host of the podcast The Illuminated Darkroom: Conversations on Breast Health and Beyond, where she brings evidence-based breast education to the public and to healthcare professionals in an accessible, practical way.
Her tagline—Get Obsessed With Your Breasts—is the heart of her mission. It’s a call to empowerment: understand your personal risk, know what changes matter, learn what screening can (and can’t) do, and seek evaluation early when something feels new. Her goal is to help women feel informed, confident, and supported—especially those who have been told they’re “too young” to think about breast health.
In her spare time, she enjoys family life, creating educational content on Instagram (@drifywomenshealth) and YouTube (@DrIfyMcKerlie), and teaching spin.
