Exhibitor Tip: The visual impact of your booth and signage are possibly the most important aspects of any trade show display. A general rule of thumb for signage? When someone looks at your display, they should be able to tell within four seconds who you are, what you do, and what problem you are solving.

Bio: Terri Higgins is the Group Manager for the Alberta region. She manages the Calgary Home + Garden Show as well as the Calgary Home + Design Show. Under Terri's leadership, the Calgary Home + Design Show was named Best of Show by the 2007 Exhibitions and Events Industry Promotional Materials Awards Competition, The Art of the Show. Prior to show management, Terri was a sales consultant for the company and she has extensive experience in sales management, marketing, customer relations and the management and motivation of people.

Bio: Micheline Picot assists with marketing the two Calgary Shows as well as the Edmonton Show. She is responsible for coordinating the execution of the many promotional contests and sponsorships at the show. She also handles many of the administrative tasks to help the shows run as smoothly as possible, including updating the show websites, assisting in Interactive Exhibitor Listings, coordinating eblasts and managing the Alberta social media accounts. Prior to joining the team, Micheline spent her time in the Land Development industry, after earning her History degree in the East Coast.
Design Tip: Don't forget to create contrast! Keep your interiors from looking dull by using contrast in a variety of ways, such as with colour. texture and lighting.

Bio: Jenn Tait supports the sales team and overall coordination of the two Calgary shows as well as the Edmonton show. Before completing her Event Management Certificate at Mount Royal University, Jenn majored in marketing at Red River College. Jenn grew up in Winnipeg but now happily considers herself a Calgarian and feels at home in this city.
Design Tip: If you want to make a room look bigger, use mirrors -they give you an illusion of more space! Also try installing your picture frames on eye level - putting them high on the wall makes your ceiling seem lower…aside from the fact that people will have to gaze up to look at your picture.

Bio: Lauren Smith assists with administrative duties for the Calgary Home + Design Show, Calgary Home + Garden Show and Edmonton Home + Garden Show. Before Marketplace Lauren worked in both the Healthcare and Restaurant industries. Originally from Victoria, Lauren received a Diploma in Business Administration from Camosun College, but having been in Calgary since 2007, she has also completed her degree in Lingustics and Language at the University of Calgary.
Design Tip: Clock ticking slowly at work...? If you are thinking of changing wall colour at your work or office space, consider green. Green spaces make time seem to move faster, this is why on stage sets, the waiting room is often referred to as "the green room".

Bio: Alison Farrell recruits the presenters and manages the Cooking Stage and Family Day promotion for the Calgary and Edmonton Home Shows. She is responsible for coordinating and executing several other features and helps with many of the administrative tasks that allow the shows to come together. Before completing her Event Management Certificate at Mount Royal, Alison worked in Interior Design overseas, as well as 10 years in the Financial industry.
Design Tip: On a budget but want a fresh look for your home? Consider reupholstering your old sofas or chairs with a much loved fabric and toss in a few new cushions – it will change the feel of the room while keeping your bank account afloat. Hate those old, dated closet doors but can’t afford to replace them? Try wallpapering them, it will create dimension and a focal point in any room.
